Finding independent companies these days can be a struggle. What's more family businesses are becoming dying breeds. Well R Slinger & Son Ltd in Preston can be very proud as this year they are celebrating 150 years of trading!

R Slinger & Son Ltd was founded in 1858 by Richard Slinger, today the company is run by Peter Slinger the sixth generation of the family. They are the oldest Architectural Ironmongers in Preston and now supply the whole of the country through their website - www.fixy.co.uk. Based in a large warehouse on Paley Road (behind Arnold Clark Car Sales), they have a trade counter with door hardware display. They have also just launched a brand new Festool power tool display - 'The Router Centre' with demonstration area.

To celebrate such a milestone they are having a Promotional week from 9th - 14th June, and open day with demonstrations, refreshments and prize draw on the 11th June. Richard Slinger - Chairman & his son Peter - Managing Director like to be hands on, and will be on the shop floor during the celebrations.

All this goes to show that a small firm with family values can compete with the big boys and survive!
