The importance of fixings.

The quality of a set of door handles is not everything, it needs to be fitted correctly so it does not start drooping or dropping off.

For you to enjoy years of trouble free service from your door handles it is very important that the product is correctly fixed to the door using the supplied fixings and compatible mechanisms (i.e. locks and latches). Considerations need to be taken for the type of door you have, weather it is a solid door or a hollow door and the width of your rail.

Solid doors are very easy with always plenty of wood. To fix the standard screw is more than acceptable. If it is an existing door you must make sure that you use new screw holes and the old ones will be covered, if using old screw holes ensure there is enough purchase on the screw to give the handle a solid hold if not you will have to fill the holes and start again.

With hollow doors the best fix is a back-to-back one. This is usually available with most modern door handles. The main consideration is that the bolts will travel through your door, compatible locks and latches need to be supplied to allow this to happen. The main benefit of this fixing is that when you pull on the handle all of the pressure is applied to the other side of the door and not to the handle you are holding. So if fitted correctly this fixing will never allow your door handles to drop off.
